Kayline Company
Lighting Equipment, No. 40
Kayline's catalog No. 40 is unusually systematic: after its price and finish information, the book presents individual chandelier and ceiling-fixture models one per plate, followed by groups of matching brackets and lanterns. The uncluttered photography and persistent model numbering make silhouettes, arm layouts, canopies, shade holders, and decorative castings easy to compare.
Most of the line is revival-minded rather than avant-garde. Candle chandeliers, bowl and bell shades, compact multi-light ceiling fixtures, and hanging lanterns show how manufacturers mixed inherited Colonial and European motifs with standardized electric sockets and compact ceiling drops suited to contemporary homes.
The Avery Library catalog record dates the book to 1925 from its accompanying price list. The complete scan contains 86 images, including the blue-and-gold cover, inserted price-list leaves, 72 catalog pages, and end matter.
